First look at Tim Burton's 'Frankenweenie', ‘Frankenweenie’ rises with the exclusive first trailer from director Tim Burton, The director has long wanted to tell the story of a boy who plays Frankenstein with his deceased pet. Tim Burton, the director behind "Beetlejuice," "Edward Scissorhands," and "Alice in Wonderland," would like to tell you a story about a boy and his dog. Burton being Burton, of course, the story will be presented in 3D black-and-white stop motion animation, and it's about how the boy brought his deceased dog back from the dead. Check out the exclusive first trailer for Disney's "Frankenweenie."

"Frankenweenie" was originally a live-action short film that Tim Burton directed in 1984 for Walt Disney Pictures. Even back then Burton wanted to make it as a feature-length stop motion film, but it would have been prohibitively expensive.

Originally, the company felt the short was too scary for kids and refused to release it. Burton then went on to direct his first feature, "Pee Wee's Big Adventure," and he soon became one of the most in-demand directors in Hollywood. Disney eventually released the film on home video, and you can see it now on the DVD of Burton's first stop motion animated film, "The Nightmare Before Christmas."

The new "Frankenweenie" was filmed in black-and-white to evoke the feeling of the classic horror films that Burton grew up watching and loving. The voice cast includes Burton veterans like Catherine O'Hara, Martin Short, and Martin Landau, who won an Oscar for Burton's "Ed Wood." And the film reunites Burton with Winona Ryder for the first time since 1990's "Edward Scissorhands."
