Justin Bieber reveals, 'I was bullied', Justin Bieber Supports ‘Bully’ Documentary; Admits He Was Bullied Himself, The superstar lends one of his songs to a "powerful" new documentary on bullying. Justin Bieber recently lent his song "Born To Be Somebody" to the new trailer for the documentary Bully, which casts a spotlight on America's bullying crisis. But that's not all he's lent to the cause. The 18-year-old megastar has revealed that he truly understands the issue--because he's gone through it himself.
"I was bullied," Bieber explained in an interview with Showbiz Tonight. "Most people in their lifetime have been bullied at some point. I think that it's about time that people start making a change."
Bieber noted that he believes school officials, teachers, and students often ignore the issue of bullying. However, he feels that the documentary is "really powerful, and can help change a lot of lives."
Bieber's tune, which includes uplifting lyrics such as "This life can kick you around/This world can make you feel small/They will not keep me down/I was born to stand tall" is an inspiring complement to the controversial film, which examines the lives of several bullied high school students--including two victims who committed suicide as a result.
The documentary, which had a limited debut in U.S. theaters March 30 as an unrated release, recently had its rating approved as PG-13 in order to reach a younger audience. The newly rated version will hit theaters nationwide on April 13.
