Kristen Stewart reveals childhood fear, Kristen Stewart Gets Back in the Saddle for ‘Snow White & the Huntsman’, The star is forced to overcome a lifelong obstacle for her role in "Snow White & the Huntsman." They say when you fall off a horse, you have to get right back on again. After getting injured in an accident as a child, Kristen Stewart had no desire to get back in the saddle again. But the chance to play a fairy tale legend changed that.

This past weekend at Wondercon -- the annual sci-fi/fantasy/comic book convention held this year in Anaheim, CA -- Stewart was a surprise guest for a presentation of footage from this summer's "Snow White & the Huntsman." Joined by costar Charlize Theron (who plays the evil Queen) and director Rupert Sanders, Stewart answered fan questions about the challenges of making this big-screen epic.

"I hurt myself a lot," Stewart told the capacity crowd. In coverage of the panel on iamROGUE.com, she said the physical demands of playing Snow White in this action-packed interpretation was part of the attraction for her. That doesn't mean, however, she was happy about all of it.

After watching footage from the film that included Stewart in Snow White leading an army charging on horseback, a fan in the audience asked her about her previous riding experience. Stewart answered that when she was nine years old, "I fell off a horse and dislocated my elbow." It left her with an aversion to horses, and she said, "I was really, really not happy about having to do all that [riding] for the movie." But she concluded, "[It] was one of those things that I just had to not think about it, because I wanted so badly to do this." She said she told herself, "If I perish by horse, that's all good."

In a chat after the panel with Yahoo! Movies, director Rupert Sanders explained that while the fairy tale adaptation does have two women at its center, he said, "It's a very masculine film... There are no ball gowns and tiaras." He also explained that he tried to shoot with as many practical elements as possible to ground the reality for the actors. He said, "If you're riding ahead of 250 horses with armored soldiers on [them] and explosions going on around you, you're in the moment."
