Red Aurora Australis
Red Aurora Australis, Southern Hemisphere Night Skies Light Up, Video: An Australian photographer patiently waited to capture the southern lights. Enjoy his beautiful & colorful footage of the aurora australis phenomenon. After chasing Aurora Australis (southern lights) for more than two years, photographer Alex Cherney was finally rewarded with two displays within a week not far from his home 60 miles outside Melbourne, Australia. The red color of this aurora is caused by the high altitude (above 150 miles) at which the charged particles interact with oxygen atoms in the Earth’s atmosphere.
